I love singing with Wilson, but it's not without it's problems. He has a much louder voice than mine, so I struggle to keep up and find myself yelling. Not good. He has a much lower voice than mine (obviously) but if he were more of a tenor or a bass I could stick to one vocal register. As it is I often have to switch between my lower and upper register mid phrase, not to mention song to song. It's not the most ideal, but is there any perfect pairing? As critical as I can be of our sound, to others our harmonies are perfect, at least perfect enough to be pleasing.
So I've decided to make no excuses. Challenges can be overcome. We turn Wilson down and me up, meeting somewhere in the volume middle. I work on my phrasing so that the transitions seem less noticeable. The voice is a muscle and I will just keep exercising it out of it's comfort zone. Perhaps it will fit into it's size 8 pants again soon.....oh wait!! Wrong body part :)
